Company definitions
Business definitions within different theory offers:
from Berghoff, modern corporate history, S 42-62
neoclassical:
- system with technical indivisibilities: companies transform inputs = factor inputs into outputs = Produktionsausstöße by combining the production factors capital, labor, raw materials and intermediate products - Sales
- The resulting revenues, net of input costs is the profit
- objectives: optimization of factor inputs and profit maximization
Coase:
- lowering the market cost of ownership explains the existence of companies
- replace authority relationships - Contract-based arrangements the market exchange
Alchian / Demsetz:
- shift of interest from the production function to the organization of the company
- input services of workers are monitored by a rights holder = Line instance
- rights: the right to acquire for success, control and enforcement powers; contractual relations with all stakeholders; right to change the team, and sale of the rights of 1-4
- companies are therefore a web of treaties to which surveillance companies more effectively will replace companies competitive with cooperation by transforming external actors in internal
- The internalization is not free = transaction cost in terms of organizational costs for example, principal agent problem
Williamson:
- adoption and continuation of the model of Alchian / Demsetz in relation to the matter when it is cheaper on the market or within an enterprise economy - the question of governance structure
- two variables that also decide: 1 Exchange frequency 2 Asset specificity
- Faktorspezifizität: 1 Standortsp; 2. Sachkapitalspez. 3. Humankapitalsp.
- They decide whether there will be full (market), framework agreements (tripartite structure = intervention of third parties as a control) or relational contracts (bilateral structure is
- internalization is a solution for companies, if both the exchange rate and the specificity are high
Weber
- an organization make like a has powers a control unit of defined, sanctioning funds and authority to create the proper and sustainability
- system of bureaucratic domination: the division of labor, formalization of control, regularity of processes, writing system, management units
- After Berghoff not be the mass of the smaller companies to r use coming
evolutionary economics:
- Enterprise is an organism with behavioral routines that are not generalized or simply transferred
- Deterministic, but at that point, that can be regarded as a pool of specific resources, is I think important as thought - keyword resource-based diversification etc.
Contingency:
- depending on the business activities of internal and external contexts = situational approaches
- Criticism of Berghoff, that it is not only a stimulus- reaction scheme is what companies react, but they are actively shaping
- concept of structuration of Giddens would fall for this, that freedom of action, the various situational or contextual configurations open - there are several options. Structures are enabling and limiting qualities
coalition theory:
- Companies = collective individual actors (Cyert / March) = arena of conflicting goals, pursue the players divergent interests, then that is a coalition of various interest groups
- coalition theory, the design and coordination problems emphasized in companies
- criticism: you have really the power resources of actors mitreflektieren, which really is really banal now
- Here, however, explicitly included external actors, which clearly a strength = stakeholder approach and keyword micropolitics
- The one approach I believe is coming to close
Plumpe top companies in Ambrose:
= organization both social and functional variables, the goods and services take for an anonymous market, through a specific utilitarian social division of labor in the form and function influence on the functional objectives of the company = organized system
- Clumsy sees his own and catfish Kopp's research as a social history of Swiss companies = companies as a Field
- Clumsy sees well the point is that individual companies can not derive from the business concept, but can be explained only descriptive
- approach U-history analysis and interpretation of action and decision making in complex organized U. at varying technical and economic environment
Plumpe VSWG
2004 -
Welskopp, company as a corporation, in Wischermann 2004
- companies that rely on capital utilization through labor exploitation (industrial company) and companies that are based on capital recovery with capital shift
- distinction between capitalism and industrialism, offers the prospect of business as material bodies, social organizations and ökomomische systems that can develop over capital significant life of its own
- capital ratio in the company is such a pressure that, since with inefficiency emigration forces
- access is therefore the analysis of the binding of the capital to companies in its social, technical and economic dimensions
- In companies there is the diversification of property rights of external actors that deal only with the utilization of capital and balance the delivery and retention of capital (institutions)
- thesis production gradually integrate, market and services in the organizational structure of companies as long as dominant for the integrated areas not Weltmakrt but regional covers are
- The idea is very exciting, but body would have to be defined iendeutiger

approach to establishing a working group in society for the company's history, and a proposal for a conference panel / workshop
company's history as a transformation of history: History firms in East Germany between 1939-1995
The company's history as an academic discipline is the middle of restructuring and is facing the challenge of new orientation. The societal interest in the history of companies that has been triggered since the mid-1990s as part of the discussion on the participation of German companies and banks to Holocaust and forced labor use, has already depreciated significantly. This development is the medium term for the scientific study of probability and consequences to negative impact on the sustainable promotion of the subject. In the course of this research was critical business history in Germany, opening for their cultural, historical and sociological issues and not least the impressive qualitative results of the last decade may run Danger of getting stuck in their evaluation.
Against this background, the discussion of new approaches and themes in German corporate history research overdue. Similarly, the systematic development of the history of East German companies. For both requirements, a new working group in society created for the company's history. The concentration on the territory of the former GDR or the new federal states is based not only on historical research, but also about the new knowledge to stability criteria or destabilization of economic systems and the development of new approaches the transformation processes of economic crops.
Our goal is to continue to promote networking and exchange of the company's history in East and longer term institutional to tie: The first is to support the scientific work-up in East Germany - the knowledge of individual companies, economic regions or specific industries is largely incomplete , the very rich archives are insufficiently exploited. Second, it is about the specific history of the GDR East German companies, which is conceived primarily as a transformation story.
Projected research:
of transformation of East German companies over the period to close out 1945 and 1989 breaks away. The story begins neither East German companies after the Second World War, yet it ends with the wall in 1989. It seems appropriate to share at least the initial situation of each company before the Second War. Furthermore, assume a transition period until 1995, who decided whether and how the company survived the political and economic system change of 1989. Particularly appealing, especially the comparison of mostly double transformation of these companies, in-depth insights into economic processes in a complex unworldly is total promise. For a
such a system comparison it must be the goal of scientific research to be realistic, in particular, developing socio-economically sound categories and typologies. Large parts of the East German historical research has, for reasons that can not be performed individually, kapriziert too much on politics and culture-historical approaches.
This includes, of course, the German-German economic relations even more strongly embedded in the research context. This will show others that, and how the East has played a special role in the Soviet bloc. In the long term it would be very attractive to integrate the Eastern European perspective.
constitutes a vital part the working group and a desideratum of research is the organization of financing of the East German economy. To understand how the economic plan proposed by the company, financing instruments, particularly the regulatory role of each responsible actors are assigned more precisely.
Not least of this working group a critical and theory-driven research are obliged to want to come to militant syntheses. Here, the business and economic history completely untapped potential. As companies represent a socially relevant place to be from the representatives of business history research also reinforced corrective in supposedly "remote" areas of research "Mixed" are. As a last
medium term-oriented focus of such a working group would need the cooperation and access to established and new multipliers mentioned. This is the one to the dialogue with East German entrepreneurs themselves, as has the working group SMEs given as a model. Second, it should at least be considered whether the current restructuring of the memorial landscape in the new (and old) federal states would not also as a socio-politically relevant topic for the business and economic history. For concepts such as "integrated learning environment" that the focus of learning is required before the commemoration and remembrance, the socio-economic research from past history is important. An example of such a synthesis, the memorial is "Topf & Sons", which was approved last year in Erfurt.
A working group that understands the history of East German companies and transformation history and would draw up conceptual, with a participation in society for the company's history as an ideal forum. To explore the viability and prospects of such a working group to discuss and to establish whether and how sustainability is a working group on corporate history-OST "and in the medium term would be will initially take place a conference or workshop.

The concept of "transformation"
The Latin term "transformation" means according to Duden in German: "conversion" to the extent it is not wrong, when it is said from an economic point of view that "almost constantly, one or another kind of transformation in the economy" will take place: "single-or macro-economic, structural or regional, and behavioral reasons or rule-based "(Horst Gischer Others change and adaptive behavior, in:. Derse and others (eds.), Transformation in the economy, Wiesbaden 2008, p. 3-8).
In the scientific mainstream usage, the term has been naturalized, but especially for the description of system transformations, where it is applied most frequently to mark the economic transformation of East European socialist systems in the process of EU integration. Less often is also spoken of the economic transformation of former colonial powers such as India / Middle East. This concept resonates with Modernisierungsunterton always, making the transformation Mainstream language implicitly means overcoming economic backwardness. This does not change the fact that it is good form, the stabilization performance of (Eastern European) transition process to question (Turnock, D., The economy of East Central Europe, 1815-1989. Stages of transformation in a peripheral region, London 2006; Wischermann, C. Nieberding, A., The Institutional Revolution, Stuttgart 2004, Kutter, A. (ed.), The legacy of the accession of Europeanization in Central and Eastern Europe, the Baden-Baden 2006)..
would need for the working group of the transformation concept can be narrowed or clarified. On the one hand, in view of the transition period: to be clarified is whether only the transformations of the political system of 1945 / 9 and 1989 as transformations in our sense, to designate or change direction in the economic system such as the New Economic System in the 1960s or the so-called neo-liberal reorientation of BR in the 1970 / 80s. On the other hand, the objects of investigation would have a ratio of transformation and companies to be clarified. When it comes to the corcorate governance, the legal corporate governance, the emersion of the managers, conversion of the product range, the emersion of the marketing agent, the emersion of the technical objectives, the emersion of the models, the Gleichzeichtigkeit, simultaneity, persistence and change, etc.? And how the identification problem can be with respect to corporate reorganizations, etc. act on system transformations?
