Do not let me be misunderstood - the semantics of the terms
The current translations of ISO 31000:2009 in the German language to reveal the whole drama. Talking and writing about management has turned into a non-dialogue on syntax and semantics of words and sentences.
Even within a language, depending on the disciplines in the background in (English) "likelihood" and "probability" meant something entirely different.
The term (English) "uncertainty" is sometimes as (German) "uncertainty", sometimes as a (German) "uncertainty" translated.
And whether (English) "risk treatment" as the (German) "risk treatment, risk management, risk control, risk control" or not but as a "risk management" should be translated, making the risk manager, not a modern languages scholar is a loss.
Risk management should not fail on its own semantics and syntax. Despite dictionary in Clause 2 "Terms and Definitions" of ISO 31000:2009, the standard does not solve the problem! The problem can only be solved in practice.
